One day, Zhiyin receives a message etched in the stone walls of a forgotten temple. It speaks of a hidden cache of idioms, a treasure that could restore the world to its former glory. Driven by a desire to rebuild and to honor the legacy of his ancestors, Zhiyin sets out on a perilous journey to find the cache.

On his way, Zhiyin encounters a group of scavengers led by a cunning woman named Lian. They too seek the cache, but their motives are less noble. Lian, who has a personal vendetta against Zhiyin, sees him as a threat to her power. She believes that if she can obtain the cache, she will become the most powerful idiomancer in the land.

As the journey unfolds, Zhiyin and Lian's paths intertwine, leading them through treacherous landscapes, across abandoned cities, and into the depths of the wasteland. They face numerous challenges, from the relentless pursuit of a band of scavengers who seek to profit from the idioms to the harsh realities of a world where every word can be a weapon.

In one particularly tense encounter, Zhiyin uses the idiom "To turn the tables" to outwit his pursuers, allowing him to gain the upper hand. However, the encounter leaves him injured and vulnerable, and Lian takes the opportunity to strike. She captures Zhiyin, binding him with a chain made of words, rendering him unable to use his idioms.

Now a prisoner, Zhiyin's hope seems lost. But in a twist of fate, he finds himself in the company of a young girl named Mei, who has been following him from the beginning. Mei, who has a unique connection to the idioms, is able to break the chain by using the idiom "To turn the tables" in reverse, freeing Zhiyin.

With Mei by his side, Zhiyin sets out once more, determined to reach the cache and fulfill his destiny. Along the way, they encounter more challenges, including a group of idiomancers who have taken it upon themselves to control the idioms and use them to enslave the remaining survivors.

In a climactic battle, Zhiyin uses the idiom "To turn the tables" once more, this time against the idiomancers, causing their words to backfire and destroy their control. With the idioms freed from their chains, the world begins to heal, and hope returns to the hearts of the survivors.
